BIO
At a young age Archer realized the importance of self examination and self definition. It is only natural that his philosophies on one’s separation and coexistence with society are reflected in his work.
Archer was born on the island of Grenada in the West Indies and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. It was there that his interest in the arts took shape. You would always find him doodling, sketching or drawing something or the other. He usually kept to self, forever questioning society and nature.
Recognizing politics as a strategy for change Archer gradually developed an interest in social justice and grassroots organizing. In college he was active with political and cultural groups and co-founded Phi Sigma Chi Multicultural Fraternity.
After college he went to work for NYPIRG, the New York Public Interest Research Group, organizing and advocating on a wide range of social justice issues, including: improving conditions in sweatshops, raising the minimum wage in New York State, fighting against subway fare hikes and helping the homeless. In 2004 he left NYPIRG to join the staff of John Kerry’s presidential campaign, when he was selected to help manage the campaign in Broward County, Florida and make sure that everyone’s vote would be counted in the 2004 elections. After Florida he worked as a communications officer and spokesperson for the New York City Comptroller. In 2006 he registered to run for a vacant City Council seat before deciding to step out of the race and create change through other means.
Archer currently works as a web designer for the City of New York, is an active member of the Disorient art collective, and continues to create art while attempting to shed light on some of the major issues affecting our society today. And every now and then you can find him performing silk aerial acrobatics 30′ in the air.
A lifelong activist and artist, Archer has a deep commitment to social justice and public service. His art has often been political, sometimes tongue-in-cheek and awkwardly personal, while digging at a deeper understanding of the human psyche; that which encompasses the soul and raw essence of human compassion and identity.
